Official Sick leave policy for any Swiss employee:-

Hi all,

I have three questions:-
  1. What is the official sick leave policy in Zurich, Switzerland?
  2. If some one has a work 50% doctor certificate for 2 weeks, then is he eligible for the full 100% salary for those two weeks?
  3. Can someone force employees to work the full 100% in spite of the doctor certificate?
Thanks and kind Regards,
Sam

Re: Official Sick leave policy for any Swiss employee:-

To answer your three questions,

1. The sick leave policies varies with employers. Generally you can go for a max of six months, but without pay.

2,. Again, this depends on your employer, my employer pays 100% but many does not.

3. No employer can force you to work when you are sick, they can only deduct your salaries.

Dear Sammy,

when you are sick, please take your time away from work, get well soon and come back again.

It depends on your company insurance. Basically you get paid after the 3rd day sick. You need to read your contract. Some companies pay for extra insurance and you get paid from day one. After 6 months you have no pay. It is illegal to dismiss you when you are sick with a doctor's certificate.

2.If some one has a work 50% doctor certificate for 2 weeks, then is he eligible for the full 100% salary for those two weeks?

Only if he works 50% for the two weeks

3.Can someone force employees to work the full 100% in spite of the doctor certificate?

No that is illegal. Ask your doctor to telephone your company, or go to the local RAV office.
