So sorry to hear about your loss. It's so sad. I lost my cat Fluffy years ago in a car accident and I often think of her. Me and my family cried for ages afterwards. I hope you all start to feel better soon.

Thanks for the kind words. Yesterday was very tough. We took our cat to Dicentra Tierkrematorium in Ruti. Very professional, very kind. We are less stunned now, but still sad. She was our first child, we had her for 6 years beforre the kids so it feels such a loss. At least the sun is shining again | | The following 4 users would like to thank henryviii for this useful post:

Sorry for your loss, my Rosie died a few months back at the ripe old age of 22 BUT by then she was ready to go and I wasn't so sad as I though. My Westie 'Breagh' (yes I know, my forum name) was like getting my arm ripped off and she was 13 (died through a vets mess !!!) But even though it was hard for me the kids whilst sad recovered waaaay quicker than the adults did . Dont worry about them they will be perfectly ok. I even encouraged my kids to flush the fish after they went belly up and after a short goodbye galloped off to be kids again.
You will recover too |

Oh feline friend, the meows, the meows are calling
From bowl to bowl, and down the sofa side
The summer's gone, and all the catnips are dying
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
And if I come, when all the flowers are dying
And you are dead, as dead you well may be
I'll come and find the place where you are lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for thee.
And I shall hear, tho' soft you purr underneath me
And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be
If you'll not fail to tell me that you love me
I'll simply live in peace until I come to thee.
Oh, Kitty Cat, Oh, Kitty Cat, I love you so.

I know in the region of La Côte, CIDEC is a common service for disposing of dead animals

My bf has a siam cat. The cat is 17 yrs old. He has been sick on and off.
Last Sunday he threw up blood and he barely ate anything for 2 days. Lately it has been like this- eating and then not eating for days. My bf tried to change his food. It didn't really work, but at least he was ok just for a while.
I am upset everytime he looks sick. He is such a nice cat.
At 17 yrs old he still wants to play, he is running around the house and he is so sweet. He sleeps at the end of the bed and sometimes he stares at me when I sleep (eventhough that freaks me out!). He meows like crazy when he is hungry. He is an indoor cat but now I take him out a lot, in the garden, with a leash.
He is always asking for attention and he loves being caressed.
I will miss him a lot....

I feel with you...
My GF just had to have one of her cats put down, due to water in the lungs... What an annoying bugger at times, he'd come in our bed early in the morning, almost throwing me out of bed, always hungry, demanding and generally a big lump of felt...
Damn, I didn't know I'd miss him that much.. especially as he just was getting better and we planned to take him home one of these days.
Meow, may your days from now on be filled with big green fields, mice and a full bowl..

I am so sorry for your loss.
It is such a sad time we all pet owners have to go through.
We had to put our 12-year-old dog to sleep about three weeks ago, just five months after moving here.
It has been heartbreaking.
Our vet was extremely kind and patient and handled everything. We decided to have him cremated, that service costs 275.
I wish you and your family the best. | Quote: | | | | | Hi all,
My cat died this afternoon and I need some practical advice. After 12 years I am a little stunned.
Firstly, what do I do with the body?
Secondly, I have children and sm not sure how to handle the aftermath. The children were there when the cat died peacefully, they have seen the cat dead, we explained she was happy, just old, its normal. Now I am not sure how to handle it.
Sorry to sound so unattached, its howjust I can get hrough today.
Thanks for your tips. | | | | | | | The following 2 users would like to thank Nowaqui for this useful post:

My condolences to all of you who've lost a pet; I've lost many over the years and know how hard it is. (I had to unexpectedly put down my last dog just before moving back here -- I even had the carrier and the microchips and paperwork ready. I had been looking forward to rediscovering Switzerland with him, taking him to the Uetliberg and along the lake and on rides on the trains and boats… )
Anyway, something to remember and share with the kids, maybe: You can never replace the pets you've lost -- each one is unique -- but no matter how long they were with you, you can look back and fondly remember the great times you had with them, the joy they brought you in times of happiness and sorrow, the funny quirks they had. And when it comes time to add a new furry family member, it's a new personality to discover and enjoy.
