We have a spayed, senior cat in perfect health and of extremely patient and gentle temperament. (Seriously, I'm not a cat lover, I'm a convinced dog-person. This is the only cat I've ever been able to relate to).

She's always travelled with me/us, but as the chance may arise at some point that bringing her with us is not the best option (for us and her), we would like to know in advance any trustworthy cat sitters or pet pensions available in our area.

I've done some research online, but I'd much prefer to hear from EFers about their first hand experience.

I'd prefer to avoid leaving our cat in a place where there are other cats, as it is the case in one pension I've contacted, because she's usually afraid of other animals. She's also a strictly indoor cat.

She's really low maintenance, as she sleeps most of the time. She's very affectionate, even with strangers, and is quite content to just curl up in the same room as people are and doze off. She's not too fond of young children, though, as she's afraid of anything/anyone too boisterous and/or loud.

If anyone would be interested in petsitting her or can recommend a good pet pension, I'd be grateful. Cheers!

Thank you for your offer wolfina. I will keep that in mind. But I hope you'll understand that the implication is to give a complete stranger free access to our flat and I don't think we'd be comfortable with that.

The best option would be to find a cat sitter or pension of proved reputation. If anyone has any recommendations, they are most welcome.

PS we are not in a hurry, it's just something that may come in handy in the future, as an alternative to taking the cat always with us or one of us staying home with her as we've done for many years so far.

We left our parrots with these guys. They board dogs, cats, etc. Up in Villa Luganese. Apparently, there's a fair amount of regulation for animal boarding that you have to know. The people running the place are quite kind and knowledgeable.
