Dwarf Hamster Babies need new homes

My daughter have four Hamsters which we thought to be all males and where in one cage. But two of them have now given birth to a total of 10 babies. These 10 babies needs new homes.

5 of them are two weeks and the rest are 1 week old. Babies can be separated after 4 weeks.

I will try to put some pictures later.

Hamsters are for free but you need to collect it from Liestal. Contact me by PM if interested.

Re: Dwarf Hamster Babies need new homes

A mommy hamster is fertile immediately after birth, and the babies can mate with eachother or their mum around 4-5 weeks old... So be careful!

I've been told petshops make a mistake about a rodent's sex in about 50% of cases!

They sell them all as males.

If you can't find homes for them, you should send to Holland, where they mix them with Mick Jagger's famous trade mark in the form of a conserve, and return the finished product to you ..... so you end up with:

"Two lips from hamster jam"

Are they very easy to tame and play with?

Just saw that tearley, my husband immediately said 'but we don't have cat' when I asked if we wanted a hamster.

Actually they make wonderful pets but the down side is that they don't live very long and you must be sure to handle them as they thrive on human contact.

Not so sure about that... I do have a hamster. Diabolically asocial animal. Bites furiously at the slightest occasion, trying to attack me... I have several scars on my fingers proving my failure in trying to befriend that spewn from Hell...

Hamsters aren't social creatures, conversely to guinea pigs who love nothing more than cuddling on your laps.

Are you 100% sure that that's your daughter and not your son.....?
