| | | [News] Dog dies after alerting owner to house fire
By James White He proved that a dog is a man's best friend and then paid the ultimate price. Boxer Duncan woke his master Scott Dunn as an inferno took hold of the house they shared in Marietta, Georgia, and the pair beat a hasty retreat. But in the confusion of the fire, the three-and-a-half year-old dog slipped out of his collar gripped by Mr Dunn and returned to the house. Grief: Scott Dunn lies on the grave of his dog Duncan in the back garden of his home after it was gutted by the fire that killed the pet His remains were later found inside the brick-built ranch-style home by firefighters who tackled the blaze. A distraught Mr Dunn paid tribute to his companion describing him as 'the best dog in the world'. He told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution how when he realised the dog had disappeared he tried to run into the house. 'Best dog in the world': Boxer Duncan perished in fire '[Neighbours] told me not to, and I said I had to get Duncan. When I got in the door, it was too hot and I couldn't go in. I tried to go in, but I couldn't.' Firefighters brought Duncan's body out and buried it in the back garden, Mr Dunn said. He added: 'You wouldn’t recognise him, but I still leaned down, gave him a hug and gave him a kiss, and four or five of the fire department guys started crying, but I wasn’t going to let my boy go out like that. That’s my boy.' The pair were sleeping on the sofa in Mr Dunn's lving room when the fire started at about 3.30am yesterday morning. Oh my goodness! What a wonderful story, and what amazing people! Beautiful dog, it is just fantastic she was able to get her sight back and start to live again.
I'd just done my eye make-up too, now I have to do it again.

I don't even watch these videos because I know what they do to me.
There was one with the beagles and the test lab that had to be closed and then another one about a dog who couldn't walk and the treatment that people performed until he was fine again. After those two, if I don't want to be embarassed with my own sobbing, I just skip watching them.
But thanks for telling the stories, anyway.
