Due to travel, I need to find a place to leave my two little dogs from mid December until 2nd week of January.
The place I have used, charges 25 CHF per dog per day.
This is 50CHF per day for both dogs, which in 20 days comes to 1000CHF for dog keeping! Maybe there is another place or option to keep them happy.
Any better option in the Vaud area?

To be honest, 25 per dog per day is very inexpensive for Switzerland.

Unlike many other countries, dog care is a regulated activity (under the TSchV) here. Anyone offering in commercial - as in paid - dog care must have specific education qualifications, and in some cases must be registered with the cantonal veterinary office. All this means that prices are high.

(Most kennels charge quite a bit more than 25 per dog per day - and private care is even more expensive still.)

Are you happy with the care your dog recieves at this place? That should be the first consideration - especially as you are leaving the dogs with the carer for a long time.

The education requirements do not apply to non-commercial dog care - i.e., friends doing one another a favor. You might try setting up an exchange with another dog owner. Have you looked for possiblities on the 'Petsitting Network' thread?

Finding a reliable, affordable, qualified, experienced, sensible, trustworthy, dog-loving sitter who is working legally is always a challenge in Switzerland. And expensive.

It's something that often comes as a surprise to dog owners who are new to Switzerland - but best to get used to it. Dog care will be a big-ticket item during your stay here.
