I have an old pair of Osters clippers but they are currently unusable as in desperate need of a service. The spare "Wahl" pair I have just don't cut the mustard (or rather the giant schnauzer's fur lol). And with the last groomer charging me CHF 170 for one haircut, it makes sense to do it myself. Any bright ideas where I can get the Osters serviced? Or failing that, a local groomer who charges rather less than CHF 170?

I usually turn first to Elsner Messerschmied in the Rapperswil Altstadt whenever I need something sharpened or serviced. I don't know if they do Oster, but it is certainly worth asking them. If they can't help you I'd guess they could direct you to the right place.

(Last time I used my clippers was in HK, when because of the tropical climate I had to turn the collie into topiary. Poor thing was absolutely mortified. A skilled coiffeuse I am not. )

Sadly it's the clippers themselves that need a service, the blades are practically new. Thanks for the links, Meloncollie, just buying new might end up the solution

I didn't do this groom, but I do know how to do a proper schnauzer cut, used to do our old one for shows. I haven't the patience usually, but otoh 170 a pop is eye-watering
