So you are ditching your cat for someone you have known for less than a year? Wow. I wouldn't even consider someone who is allergic to cats because love comes and goes but your pets love you regardless.

One of the reasons why I love this forum so much is that we are a bunch of crazy cat people here.

My wife is crazy about cats. I can give you all the details if you need to assess the situation.

I am sending this request out since I was once in ur situation where I had to give my dog up when my mum came to live with me for a while and it was a horrible time. I dont have my dog anymore.

If you want, we can sit your cat for a month or 2 until you find a place for him. This way you can get your GF here and your cat doesnt have to go to some place you choose in a hurry.

there's really no such thing as a general "cat allergy". Some people are allergic to SOME cats as not all cats produce the same amount of allergens. There are hardly any people who are allergic to all cats. My sister-in-law always thought she's allergic to cats in general - but it turns out she was only allergic to her parents' cat. We have three cats and she doesn't show any kind of reaction to any of them.

Are you sure your GF is allergic to your particular cat? I'd really check that before you give away your little tiger.

Same here, my mum is allergic to most cats but not to my Norwegian Forest Cats. If I loved a guy, I'd do anything possible to let him keep his cat and I couldn't live with myself if he had to give it (or any other pet) up because of me.

We already tried to live for a few days with the cat but it was a nightmare. She could not rest at night, we did not enjoyed our time together at all and we have to stay outside the most of the time.
You cannot live with a pet if you are afraid of him.

By the way, the cat is an indoor cat, he never goes out.
