| | | Dog missing in verbier area
Hi all,
One of my dogs went missing on Sunday 24th in the St Christophe hill in Verbier.
It is a red and white border collie, female, 8 y.o and quite shy.
We have called ANIS and also registered her as missing in http://www.stmz.ch/fr/index.php?lang...d=51217&back=1
and http://vermisst.tierdatenbank.ch/cgi...=&t=vermisst_f
she could be anywhere now and I am going crazy not knowing where she is or if she is ok.
Thank you

I'm so sorry to hear this - every dog owner's nightmare.
In addition to notifying the lost dog sites, you might want to go to every veterinary practice in the area to notify them, include the picture you have posted here - often when a passer-by finds a lost dog they go to the nearest vet.
Also go to all area Tierheim - don't just call, go in person, as sometimes descriptions get confused.
Ditto the police station - go in person, give them a poster.
And if you haven't already done so, make a poster with your dog's picture and post it on every area Robidog. The reason for posting on a Robidog is that other dog owners will see it, and keep an eye out.
Also hang posters anywhere else along your usual walking route where they are allowed - The train station and bus stops are good places, as is the local Migros or Coop.
We're on the other side of the country - but know that all fingers, toes, paws and dewclaws here are firmly crossed for her safe return. And thumbs pressed for good measure.
ETA:
I just looked at your post on the Tierdatenbank and STMZ; might I suggest that you switch the picture to the one you have posted here? Your dog's features are much clearer in the above pic, and might help someone recognize her.
Hoping she comes home to you soon.

Thank you all for your answers and concern.
I have emailed posters to all the refuges and call them to confirm theyhave them, same with local vets and the police.
We have also put posters absolutely everywhere in the Entremont area, including all the walking paths. We have also spread the word via facebook as much as we have been able, we have good friends over here that have been walking the mountains looking for her.
Thank you for your advice Melloncollie, I have changed the picture in STMZ, I am trying to remember the login details for the Tierdatenbank to change it too.
My husband is out again now looking for her, let's hope he comes back with good news.
It is not normal for Roxy to disappeared like that, although she likes chasing marmots and rabits
Thank you

I'm sorry to hear that she's still missing, Conchela.
It might be worth contacting local hiking clubs, farmer's associations, the local forester, etc - folks who would be out in the less-traveled areas - asking them to keep a look-out.
Still keeping our paws crossed for her safe return.

Thank you all for your concern and your ideas.
We have been to most of the farms around the area where she went missing.
The Garde chasse has been looking for her with us and showing us the paths they use during hunting season so that we can follow the same paths as the wild animals.
I will have a look now for the hking clubs and get in contact with them.
Hope this is a good week and we get the call that she has been found.

So sorry she is still missing Conchela. Have you been in touch with all the vets? I shall ask my friends in Le Levron/Vollège to keep an eye.
Everything crossed x

We have been in contact with the local vets and have given them a poster to put in their clinics.
Thanks Odile for your help.

unfortunately she is still missing.
We received a call a little while back from someone saying he had found Roxy, that she was very thin but ok, he agreed to meet us in Martigny station and gave us a contact number (his number didn't show on my phone when he called), we waited for two hours and didn't show up, the number he has given me belonged to someone else that knew nothing about a missing dog...very cruel...don't get why!
Thank you for asking.

I am so so sorry she is still missing (and about this awful person). I am sure you have checked all the local refuges, etc, including the large one in Ardon.
Would it be a good idea to place an ad in the local paper?
If there is anything I can do (perhaps language wise, I am a native Romande)- please do ask. Thinking of you.
