| Re: Doggie daycare in Bern
Hi - I live just outside the city and have met with Jomo's to check them out and here's what I found:
Good
- They will come and pick your dog up at your home for a 1/2 day - which consists of 1 long walk [usually along the Aare starting at Muribad - or a full day, which consists of 2 long walks.
- People seem good with dogs and knowledgeable
- They bring your dog back home when the time is done
Not so good
- When a dog stays for a full day, they have no place to bring the dogs, so they sit inside their van until the 2nd walk. I have no idea what they do in the summer when it's hot, but this turned me off to the idea of a full day.
I tried to arrange 1/2-day sessions for my dog several times and they either did not get back to me or said they were full. So I gave up.
I found another place in Munchenbuchsee called Amici Hundehort. Very good option for daycare or overnights. Run by a very smart, well organized lady. Lots of play and lounging place for the dogs. Dogs stay all together in a pack and sleep in a dormitory where they can bunk together or alone, depending on preference. I have left my dog there for up to 3 days and have been very pleased.
For long trips, I bring my dog to Hundeland in Eptingen - an absolute canine el dorado. My dog LOVES it there and the people are fantastic. They even give her a bath before I pick her up.
So, bottom line - Amici is great for daycare and short trips and Hundelande is great for long trips. Both post daily photos of the dogs on their websites so you can check and see how they're doing. The Swiss don't seem to like the idea of being filmed on CCTV!
I hope that helps.
