Re: Sad day - cat with cancer

That video is beautiful!

Village Idiot, you did not told us the name of the pretty lady.

She had a great life thanks to you, your family and the love you gave to her.

I want to virtually connect with you and her, and I am going to hug my 2 little boys as the cat on the video right now.

Re: Sad day - cat with cancer

Great article - thanks for sharing it. My cats have, indeed, been through a lot with me and are also like the mute best friends who've weathered many storms. For all that I love them when times are smooth sailing, it's been when the times are toughest that they've known, understood, and just been there as unconditional little buddies.

Village Idiot,

I'm so very sorry to hear that your little friend had to cross the rainbow bridge.

Even though it is probably very hard to see at the moment, the positive moments spent with her will never be gone.

Especially the moment of her sister touching the screen with her on it will probably always be a special gem reminding you of her.

Keep her in your memories and in your heart - she will too.

As a matter of fact, she's doing great. We were speaking about this at dinner the other night, and we agreed that she seems to realize that her sister was very sick. Whether she understands that she as 'died' or is simply 'not there', she seems to have accepted what's happened and moved on. She isn't searching for her sister, nor does she seem to pine for her.

We've kept the routines very standard -- same feeding schedule, she gets her same chair at the dining table (long story -- she likes to sit with us when we eat), and we haven't moved/cleaned any of the cat beds yet.

The biggest change is that she seems to like being the centre of attention. She's changed from being calm and always at her sister's side, and she's much more youthful and playful now. For a cat that's 15 years old, it's a real surprise to see her chasing around the house, batting around balls and chasing strings, attacking our toes as we sleep... It's like she's got a new lease on life.

This happened with my girls too (litter mates). When the first one died after a long illness, the second looked for a few days and then seemed to accept it. She also became more playful, vocal and demanding (as if she wasn't already demanding enough). Glad to hear your girl seems to be doing okay so far.

I'm so incredibly sorry, VI.
I bet she was just as wonderful as her sister.
I'm sure that now they'll be playing together on the other side of the rainbow bridge, waving to you and giggling about the fun moments they had with you.

My heartfelt condolences...

Re: Sad day - cat with cancer

VI, I am so very sorry.

Losing a beloved pet never gets any easier, does it?

I hope that you can again take some comfort in the memories of all the good times, especially of how sweet she was when her sister was so ill.

Reading through this thread I was so touched by the pics of the two cats together. I like to think of the two sisters together again, somewhere over the Rainbow.

Sincere condolences to you and your family at this sad time.

I am so sorry for your loss.

It is so hard to say goodbye to our friends... It’s been years since our cat left us, but I still think of her a lot.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

Sad thing. I'm really sorry for your loss. From my experience the best thing to do now is to take another pet quickly. Always works.
