Re: Sad day - cat with cancer

Sorry to hear that, VI.

Whenever I hear of a cat's death it always makes me think of those I've had, either mine or by proxy. Bubble went as a result of a tumour, Pouncer went simply thought old age, and Webster, well he was always up for a fight, he just didn't choose them wisely, as two tonnes of rapidly moving metal demonstrated to him.

I've been there many times, and it never gets less painful when the time comes.

Village Idiot,
I am so very sorry to read about the loss of your feline friend. She is/was beautiful!
The passing of a furry friend is NEVER an easy thing but knowing your friend is at peace and not suffering hopefully provides you with some comfort. Perhaps take comfort in knowing your two feline friends are joined together once again. And of course their memory and pawprints will be forever in and on your heart.
Caring thoughts and support go out to you and your family.

So sorry VI. These damned critters, it doesn't matter how small they are, they still leave a huge gaping hole when they're gone

It's very quiet around the house without any furry friends to say hello...

Re: Sad day - cat with cancer

I'm sorry to hear that, VI.
I don't know if you'd want to go the route of getting new cats to deal with the grief, if you prefer giving yourself time to grieve without new furry friends before doing that or if you'd want to go a completely different route.

Whatever you choose, I'm sure it'll be for the best, and I wish you strength and happiness in your new endeavors.

You're in my thoughts.

Re: Sad day - cat with cancer

I´m so sorry to hear this. We have two cats and they, especially the first one which we´ve had for 2.5 years now, is really my baby. Second one is still outgrowing the annoying/charming kitten crazy phase I don´t even know what I´m gonna do when the day comes to say goodbye, but it´s part and parcel of having a pet. We just have to deal. I wish I could say anything more helpful, but we all know that there is no true consolation to loosing a furry friend.

Re: Sad day - cat with cancer

This thread and the posts on it, even though so very sad, shows just how much we love and have loved some wonderful cats throughout our lives.

Reading through it today brought back memories of cats i have lost and little images popped up in my head. I did feel a bit sad, but then a silly image was there that made me smile.

Like the time, when i had four cats, i woke up one morning and five were asleep on my bed. I was scrunched up on the very edge!! The neighbours cat just upped and went home at around lunchtime. Never to be seen again.

I don't regret one minute of the time cats have let me into their lives and the love they bring to us is priceless.

It's their independence and "i pretend not to like you but i do really" attitude that intrigues me and shall always intrigue me.

I feel for you, and shed a tear for you and your family at this sad time.

Re: Sad day - cat with cancer

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss, VI. I'm not really a moggy fan, but I do find them endearing and I have known my share of "Fine Feline Friends". As others have pointed out, loosing any sort of furry companion is a heartbreaking wrench, though it does get easier over time (even so, Mrs TD and I still miss our "Hairy Houseguest" [a dog we used to host a lot] who passed on 2 years ago).

If and when your thoughts turn to getting another cat, may I make a plea to consider a rescue cat? The tierheim in Colmar where Mrs TD and I got our two dogs has a lot of cats looking for a new home. Who knows, perhaps the magic will happen again

All of our cats have been rescue cats.

Re: Sad day - cat with cancer

All mine too.

I read on Facebook the other day that some bastard had left a laundry basket with five kittens in it near the bins somewhere in Geneva.

A kind person took them in, took them to the vets etc. and is now looking after them until they are old enough to be rehomed. According to the posts on Facebook they should have been 100 kitties!! They all have new homes.

It saddened me that people do that when the Rescue places are there to help people in these situations and also that there are always people willing and wanting to adopt homeless animals.

To just abandon them is inhumane and i hope they catch the B that did it.
