Re: diabetes in elderly dachsund

Odile, I had an Appenzeller Sennenhund that went blind at 15. She lived to the ripe old age of 17. I know that Slinky has diabetes and there may be other symptoms that affect Slinky's quality of life, but blindness alone may not necessarily be it. Dogs tend to make up for missing senses with the others they have. Our Cassie is hard of hearing but has an amazing sense of smell...(no midnight snacks without her company )

SO cute!

Slinky simply MUST come to our place on holidays, kiddies are in love with sausage dogs. He would be cuddled all day long

Re: diabetes in elderly dachsund

Has anyone ever bought the Tatler, I mean I think I did thumb a copy once at the dentist's, lol. Got a posh niece though....

Mélusine- Slinky copes really well with being blind- but in his own home where he has memorised the rooms and furniture. It is so kind of you to offer- but it would be too much for him to cope with too much love from young kids and a strange environment, bless his grey paws. Just come back from a walk in the sun in his pram- he's really got used to it. He must be one of the most internationally photographed old dog since his Tuscany holiday last September.

But you and children are very very welcome to come and visit him (and me )
