Re: Casco bird shop - pet shop

I always pay the full price and I never thought about asking about a VAT deduction... it's just prices in zooplus.de are so low in comparison to CH, that I already consider it a bargain.

For example:
I was interested in buying a pack of dry dog kibble. I compared zooplus.de and Qualipet. The results were:
1. Qualipet: 4 kg for ~45 CHF
2. zooplus: 15 kg for ~50 EUR
I know that in big packages the price per 1 kg is better than in smaller packs, but c'mon...

As for customs, multiple times my order was worth almost 100 EUR (including delivery) and I have never paid any customs fee.

I compared CH and DE prices for the stuff I'd like and came up with an approx. CHF 20 difference - if one orders from .de multiple times it does add up.

As for large price differences - compare this to this/this

Thanks very much for your post, I thought it was a given that one would be hit with customs every single time the order was more than CHF 62 including delivery.

Another question:
Does Zooplus declare their prices on the packages, and if so, do they do this without you telling them to do so?
Does the DE shop deliver as quickly as the CH shop or are there large differences between the two?

That is why I am no longer a regular customer in Qualipet. Just some snacks or some emergency items.

1. You mean zooplus' price tags sticked to the items? No, there is nothing like that.
2. I've never ordered from CH. DE delivers quite quickly, I am not complaining.
For example, I placed an order one day, it was entered into the DHL's system two days later and I received it after another four.
Another order had to be split into two packages. One was delivered two days ago, four days after being processed, but I am still waiting for the other one.

I mean, if you order a packet of, say, dog food for €15, are the €15 declared on the outside of the package brought to you by DHL? Asking because that would make it easier for customs/whoever to check prices of items and calculate VAT/customs surcharge/whatever cost than if they were only inside the package, on the bill/delivery confirmation/whatnot.

Thanks!

I get an invoice as PDF and the prices there are brutto.
On the package there is a plastic pocket, with a "Lieferschein" sign, but it is empty. I assume the DHL guy takes it and I think it is a copy of my PDF invoice.

Holy Hochpreisinsel

---

I order from .de, largely because the items I order are significantly cheaper. I keep the order under the Zoll amount, but now that delivery is more expensive I might just try a larger order to see what happens.

I never really gave much thought to the German MWSt issue, because the prices are so much better... And now with the strong CHF, I'd guess it would pretty much comes out in the wash. But thanks for bringing the question up, I'll have to add that into my calculations.

I'm very happy with delivery from Germany, the order usually arrives in 4-5 business days.

Re: Casco bird shop - pet shop

I rarely buy any pet items in Switzerland though I recently compared the price of a dog crate by Trixie and was surprised to find there was little price difference between Zooplus.ch (with free delivery) and buying the same cage in Germany.

Living just minutes from the German border I can just pop over and get the 19% MWST back on my purchases.

Re: Casco bird shop - pet shop

So - i just did another comparison of identical products on both zooplus sites.

Pet perishables - CH CHF 123.-, DE EUR 83.-, DE minus VAT approx. EUR 65.-
Pet furniture - CH CHF 323.-, DE EUR 202.-, DE minus VAT approx. EUR 162.-

Seems like bulk orders are indeed cheaper from .de if there are no VAT/customs charges on top.

Do Zooplus (de/ch) respectively DHL folks deliver to the flat or only to the house entrance?

I pick all the packages at the entrance (DHL / Swiss post / registered letters, etc), but I assumed that is how you do it and never asked for a delivery to the door.
