Where to play chuckit/tennis ball fetch with my lab?

Hi,

I recently moved to Zurich (Oerlikon) area and have an active 4 yrs old lab. We used to play chuckit/tennis ball fetch game in the USA where he can be off-leash. He is very well behaved and does not bother other people nearby. We used to play in areas such as public schools (off hours of course) and parks. Is there somewhere like that in this area? Or somewhere where he can be off leash and run freely?

Thank you.

I don't live in ZH, so I'll let others who do advise on where to exercise your dog.

However, you should know that dogs are forbidden from school grounds under the cantonal regs:

http://www.tierimrecht.org/de/tiersc...ht/zuerich.php

If you don't find answere here for suggestions in your area, pop by your Gemeindehaus and ask. Or ask your cantonal list 1 Erziehung course or federal SKN trainer (whichever you are required to do.) If you work with a local trainer that's always a a good source for local info.

Happy fetch playing!

Re: Where to play chuckit/tennis ball fetch with my lab?

You can take your dog off-leash in parks, but unfortunately there is not so many of those in the city .

Allmend is the most popular location, just next to Sihlcity (map). It is not fenced, but big enough to either let your dog run freely or use a long training leash. One thing to remember is that the area is divided by the river and while you can do whatever you want in the northern part, the southern is (and should be, but that is another thing...) dog-free.

Another place is Werdinsel (map), but here you have be careful and not enter the Badi area (also forbidden).

Areas along the Limmat (both directios from Werdinsel) are great for long walks, because sometimes the path gets really wide and there is lots of grass.
