Does anyone use a pet sitting service while away? I don't know if they exist here. If they do, how much do they charge to come to your home?

We used Futterblitz in January, they were great. The woman came by in advance to have a look around - was very shy and businesslike with us, but lit right up and talked excitedly with our cats. That sold us on the service. Plus, the furballs were in fine form when we came home a week later.

It cost CHF 40 per day, including watering plants, emptying the mailbox, airing out the apartment, and the all important cleaning out the litter box.

if you look on www.gratis-inserate.ch there are pet sitting services offering their services from all over CH for different prices and different conditions. You might want to contact a few of them to compare.

I reckon they should speak English. They took care of our cat twice, 28 CHF per day for one 1-hr visit per day with feeding, cleaning, etc.

just go under the 'Katzen' or 'Hunde' tab and look for Betreuung or sitting. Usually there are about 3 offers a day so if you look at the past week or so you should get an idea.

It's called "Domizilfütterung" - sounds like the last act of a Wagner opera

Just enter "Domizilfütterung für Katzen", that should get you to the right place.

yes i would be interested in doing this for you. I love dogs and cats and am looking to do this to fill my time here as i am quite new and my husband works all the time. When i came here i wanted to work in something i treally loved and not what i have always HAD to do..... so the dogs and cats won in the end.

I also strongly recommend them. They are excellent!!!

We live in Basel (soon to move to Basel Land - Münchenstein or Reinach).
We have got two dogs at home (pumi ) - and we hope we can find a flat where they are allowed to stay.

My boyfriend is free all day and can look after a dog (take out to walk, etc).
