How cheeky is your pet?

At first, I thought it was just a coincidence. But now, after having experienced this for 4-5 times, I think I need to face the reality.

My cat found out how to open my bed side light in the morning to wake me up. It's a touch lamp and he found out how to open it. He stands in my face waiting for me to open my eyes and then, will meow-order me to feed him.

Not cool, kitty, not cool.

Wow. So cute.
I'd forgive him and do as "instructed" because he's so smart!

Re: How cheeky is your pet?

Our cat was able to open doors, had to turn all the handles vertical and/or lock the doors, internal and external. And they had to be turned upwards, as if they were turned downwards he figured out how to slap them open.

Of course, this could never happen with US-style knobs.

Our cat can do that too. He jumps up to the handle and pulls it down and the door opens so we have to remember to lock the ones we don't want him to get through. It's easier on doors that open away from him but he always manages to do it on ones opening towards him too.

We had a cat at home who would put his paw up onto the lips of the the person who's lap he was sitting on ( to shut them up) if he thought they were concentrating too much on talking instead of stroking him.

He's not only cheeky, he's also an ass. Once he is fed, he goes back to bed in my spot.

My cat used to tap my eyelids with her paw, so cute!

If that didn't work, then the claws came out.

Re: How cheeky is your pet?

Rusty pushes people with his paw if they aren't giving him enough attention; if you're petting him then stop, he'll put his paw on your leg or such to instruct you to keep going.

All well and good - but he's learned to do it whenever he wants attention. For example, after a year and a half we finally let him sleep on the bed with us, but he won't do it without permission. So if he wakes up at 3am and decides he wants to get up with us, he'll literally punch the side of the bed until we wake up and tell him to come up!

And then there's his instinct for certain kinds of food. Since we treated him as a young pup with banana and peanut butter, he knows those words better than his own name, and of course he knows the smell... but amazingly, he even knows the sounds of those foods. If you twist open a peanut butter jar and he's in another room, he'll start moving the with the first rub of plastic on plastic. If you peel a banana, he hears it instantly and is next to you before the peel is halfway down, even from 20m away without line of sight.

And of course, he knows full well that it's his right to share, and is incredibly affronted if you don't!

Re: How cheeky is your pet?

My ferrets were able to open the fridge. They also used to wake me up in the morning by licking my eyelids, then running down under the duvet the bite the ball of my foot, then rushing back to my face to see if it worked. And repeated until it did.

I miss them!

Bella was the same with banana, we had to warn visitors that if they had a banana Bella would expect her share. We always had ours at breakfast and if we didn't have one in the house her face was incredulous. The same with carrots, you could prepare a host of veg but as soon as you started cutting carrots there she was. Oh I miss her. A whole banana just isn't right

Re: How cheeky is your pet?

Our dog would jump up on the end of the bed, and then feign a really big stretch, but actually she was just pushing our legs out of the way to make more room for herself.

Cheeky bitch.

Re: How cheeky is your pet?

My last dog was so sneaky. When I used to go out I used to put her in my daughter's room. When I came in several times she would be sitting on the stairs looking at me with a guilty look on her face and I could not understand how she got out as the door when closed had to have the handle pushed down.

I shut her in the room and hid and watched while the door opened, and when I looked at the door inside, my daughter had a handbag hanging on the door handle. She obviously used to grab that till it opened the door.

When I next went out, I took the handbag off the handle. When I returned she had obviously tried her trick, failed so decided that she would wreck the room. She ripped all her University work up and the room was completely trashed - it looked like someone had broken in and she was only a small dog.

Another of her tricks was to dig a hole under the fence, take my other dog down to the beach - and leave him there!!

Re: How cheeky is your pet?

My cat only slept right beside me and did the paw in the face, licking eyebrow thing. Funny thing was he also slept in between my boyfriends legs/crotch, never mine. Boyfriend thought it was nice having a hot water bottle in that certain place on a cold Winter's night.

Another cat would jump right on top of you when she deemed it necessary that it was time to pander to her every need. Six kilos launched onto your chest... She would also sleep wrapped around my head like a fur hat.

So i had a warm head and the boyfriend had warm balls!!

My other cat holds me hostage. He destroys things when he doesn't get as much food as he wants. He DEMANDS to be fed not less than 15 times a day.

Re: How cheeky is your pet?

A friend of mine had a pet RAT years ago. They had made a little nest for it, with it's little blanket and a little bowl in the living room.

They went out for the day, came back to find that Ratty had dragged his home all the way to the kitchen and installed himself under the table.

As happy as Roland!!

So many funny pet stories!! Keep em coming!!

And, usually in cat circumstances, they just look at you in that disdainful way. I was ignored for about a week after going on holiday. But the food was eaten.

Re: How cheeky is your pet?

my male cat will sleep on my chest until my husband comes into bed- then his work is done. he leaves and goes into my son's room sleeping on his chest for the night. he's like our bodyguard

our other cat goes into the little street next to our building, lays on her back in the middle of the path, looking very cute so people will stop and pet her. she's also a door opener though i wish she's learn to close them afterwards

somehow we lucked out with them as they are overaffectionate. people are always amazed how cuddly they are with everyone instantly. we just adore them... couldn't be without them
