Have you found out if anybody is going to be around over Christmas? I am going to be gone three weeks and don't have anybody to feed my cat in Munchenstein.
Is there anyone around Luzern that could watch or visit our cat during the holidays? I could drop him off within a one hour radius of here if someone further afield would offer help. It would be greatly appreciated!
Zurich area pet sitter here! I have a cat but love both cats and dogs. I could take a dog to my home, but not a cat right now (mine gets so jealous!) I am happy to visit zurich cats in their homes, however!
I've revived this thread because I'd like to get this off the ground in Basel if possible. I had a look on Yahoo groups and couldn't see anything similar to the Zurich catsitting network, so I've started one for Basel:
(If there is one that I missed, let me know and I'll close it down).
I've never 'done' a yahoo group before, so please bear with me! If you have cats in the Basel area and are interested in signing up for some reciprocal cat sitting, then please have a look at the group and sign up.
The following 2 users would like to thank maudthecat for this useful post:
I am not yet in Switzerland but we are planning to relocate in summer. We have a cat, and in US we usually use a circle of friends to take care of him while we are going on short trips (2-5 days) . He does not need much, just a short visit once in one or two days. We tried to leave our cat in a kennel once, he was moody and grumpy for a few weeks afterwards :-))
We do take care of our friends' pets while they are away => the only important point is to have enough friends, so not everyone is out of town simultaneously (main holidays are the major problem).
I would be happy to replicate such a system in Switzerland (the set of friends willing to care about their pets). Well, I know that human friends can take some time to find, but, perhaps, we can find each other through pets? We are going to live close to Lausanne, so I would be happy to find out if there are people there who have pets and who would not mind looking after each other pets for some short period of time on reciprocity basis.
Do you think it can work?

Hi there
We would also be interested in getting involved in a catsitting circle, we are abut 20mins from Lausanne (in the Morges direction) and have two cats. Happy to lend a hand co-ordinating things too if you need any help

We live now in Zurich Downtown (Oerlikon) since 2 years and we are looking for some people interested in catsitting (we look after your cat and you look after our cat during the holidays).
I think this could work really well. We are coming over at the end of the summer and would love to meet other dog owners and do some pet sitting when needed. Not quite sure where we will be living but somewhere around Zurich
we just moved to Zurich with our dog (mix breed, medium size - 50 lbs) who we're hoping to find some friends for. and eventually trade some dog-sitting with. we'd love to have a dog-sitting network here in town!
I am living in Basel Land, have a dog , and would be interested in making some kind of pet minding arrangements with a dog owner in a similar situation for holiday periods, odd weekends away etc..
Hi, I'm about to adopt a small dog and live in Riehen. Are we too far from eachother to do this?
And I have a cute black lab and live in Richterswil (border Zurich and Schwyz). Pip has gone to a kennel during holidays but I rather set up a network around here for sharing dogs (if they like eachother). Cause frankly: if the dogs do fine together, it does not make much difference to walk 1 or 2!
