Any information on snakes?

Hi there,

I am interested in owning a snake as a pet (Boa Python).
In South Africa one needed a licence to keep a snake as a pet, and I was wondering if the same applies to Switzerland? I would appreciate any available information on snakes, such as where to buy their food in CH (Springermäuse), vets and any needed licenses.

On the law it's written you need autorization for serpents over 3 meters of lenght in adult age except boa constrictor and for venomous serpents, for some species there might be special requirements like certificates of competence or training.
For the others there is no authorization necessary but check on the website of your cantonal veterinary, everything is written there and there should be the formulary for request of authorization should it be necessary.
It's easier if you go to a specialized shop I guess, they can also tell you about the mice.

I think that it's forbidden to take them as cargo or cabin baggage, if travelling by air.
