SKN question

Hello I have had a Search for the answer to this question but have been told differing things by different people. Can any one confirm that as the owner of a 2 1/2 year old dog that we have had from 8 weeks we would have to do a SKN course whithnin a year of arrivng in Basel? I am sorry if it is a question you have answered a million times I have tried to search fir a definitive answer and have not been successful! Thank you

The SKN Practical course must be done with each dog acquired after 1 September 2008. So yes, you should do the course.


(That's the federal law. However, we have seen on many threads that not all cantonal or commune officials enforce the law.)

Some confusion as to the Theory course comes in with foreigners who moved to Switzerland after that date. So if you have questions go straight to the source, the cantonal veterinary office.




But... As I say on every SKN thread I recommend that all newcomers do both courses even if excused. It's a good introduction to Swiss law, manners, mores, and expectations - imformation you will need as you and your pup settle in.

And remember: there is no test, attendance is all that is required.
