I'm finding myself rationalising slavery this morning...

Look at these gorgeous kitties looking for a home.

These are from the Zug Tierheim.

Fera in particular is looking for a new throne

I adore cats, and these are so cute. Fera is gorgeous.

I wish we were allowed pets in our apartment.

Yes, they are sweet. But it's a shame they're in a refuge in the first place. Irresponsible owners of their parents unfortunately.

The SPA Fribourg has some cuties as well.

Even though i put a thread here about how the SPA in Geneva is inundated with kittens this summer, I can't bring myself to look at their website!!

At the moment i can't have a kitty, but as soon as i can - I'll be waiting for them to open in the morning!!

Those ones, up there, are all so gorgeous!!

Re: I'm finding myself rationalising slavery this morning...

So many cat owners here, both Swiss and foreign, do not have their cats speyed- and there are kittens offered everywhere + refuges full to the brim with older cats. Tragic.

I made a comment on a local site offering kittens about sterilising the cat before she has another litter- and had a really snarky reply about 'if you pay for it I will' - check their FB page and they have several expensive sports' cars and a very posh expensive flat

I once volunteered in a cat shelter in Spain and the cats in the shelter were not speyed. When I asked the director why not, she said, what's the problem, we can always find homes for the kittens, and the money we make off selling the kittens helps look after the older cats who will probably stay here till they die as nobody wants them anyway.

Ironically and tragically, she was right.

If you've ever been a devoted cat "owner" you know who's really in charge. Hint: It's not the human.

yes.. that old saying
dogs have owners, cats have staff

i stayed at a friends house and they have two cats, i was making myself a coffee in the morning and one of the cats walked in and looked at me like, 'what are you doing here if you are not feeding me'

Re: I'm finding myself rationalising slavery this morning...

If you feel like a slave to a cat, you probably have toxoplasmosis.

Quote:
Infected rodents show a reduction in their innate aversion to cat odors; while uninfected mice and rats will generally avoid areas marked with cat urine or with cat body odor, this avoidance is reduced or eliminated in infected animals.[49][51][52] Moreover, some evidence suggests this loss of aversion may be specific to feline odors: when given a choice between two predator odors (cat or mink), infected rodents show a significantly stronger preference to cat odors than do uninfected controls.[53][54]
