Horsey happy ending after being left for dead

We don't get many horse stories here on the forum (bit difficult to keep them in an apartment ), but I'd like to share this one with you.

Gizmo, a piebald foal, was left to die by the roadside in the UK. Rescued in the nick of time, he's since blossomed into a fine young pony and has just won the RSPCA's Rescue Horse of the Year award.

I really don't know how people can be so cruel and uncaring of their animals, but this time at least I'm crying tears of happiness, not anger and despair. Way to go Gizmo!

Re: Horsey happy ending after being left for dead

In the UK so many horses and ponies are abandoned due to the financial costs of keeping them - it is so sad and unnecessary as they can be handed over to the RSPCA or horse charities.
Lovely to have a happy ending!!

Re: Horsey happy ending after being left for dead

Sadly all too true smackerjack. I see similar stories of horses found dead or dying in fields or by the roadside nearly every week on the Horse and Hound website and it's all so unnecessary. Given the state Gizmo was in when he was found it's lovely to see that he's now thriving and most importantly loved.
