Suggestions for special needs dog sitting?

A good friend has a sweet dog, with special needs, who needs a dog sitter from Nov. 4 through the 20th. Only catch is her dry eyes which require eye drops every 30 minutes during the day.

This rules out a typical boarding situation.

Vicky, the dog, is very quiet and requires minimal attention, other than the eye drops.

If found, how much would one need to pay to keep a dog like this?

Any suggestions?

The sitters I know who are willing and able to take on dogs with 'special needs' usually charge around CHF 200 per day.

Another thought, and one that would be less expensive:

Would this dog be happy living with a fairly large number of other dogs?

IF so, VI Dogs in Morgarten ZG might be a possibility. The owner, Susanne Olm, is experienced with giving meds. This is a Hundehort, not a boarding kennel. The dogs live in the owner's house, play in their designed-for-dogs garden. (I haven't used VI Dogs myself but I met Susanne at the Hundeschule). VI Dogs is very popular, and Susanne has dogs of her own - so this dog would have to be comfortable living with other dogs.

Wow! I think I shall stop cleaning teeth, train as a dog sitter and stay home with some pooches...

Not really...I'd miss my patients....xx

A sitter who is able to care for 'special needs' dogs can do very well in Switzerland. There is a huge need - and very few sitters who provide the service needed.

(This is a blatant hint for those out there looking to 're-invent' themselves...)
