help! Emergency 24/7 vet care in Zurich

My dog hasn't been feeling well all day, she is eating grass like there is no tomorrow and won't touch her food. She is crying to go out like she's desperate to go but when i let her out she runs as fast as she can to some grass. I know this can happen occasionally but she's never been this bad before and i'm a bit worried incase in gets worse over night. If i urgently needed to get her care i wouldn't have any clue! I have looked on Google but only normal vets come up. Please can anyone let me know where i can go for emergency 24/7 vet care in Zurich if it came down to it? I'm hoping she is all better by tomorrow! She is still taking the odd sip of water so i'm hoping it's not so bad. Thank you!!

The number given above may not be open after hours. The emergency number I found is:

Notfallstation
Phone 044 635 81 14

Link: http://tel.search.ch/zuerich/wintert...ierspital.html

If you go to this hospital, there are directions available near the top of the page. Look at them now so you are prepared (and put them into the GPS if you have one so you are ready to go).

Re: help! Emergency 24/7 vet care in Zurich

The above links are to the Tierspital - for future reference, here is their website:

http://www.tierspital.uzh.ch/de.html

Procedure - call first, you will be connected to the vet on call. He/she will ask you questions about your dog's state, try to be as clear and specific as you can. If it is an emergency you will be told to come in, if it isn't an emergency you will be give further instructions.

If possible, bring along any medical records you have, including recent tests or x-rays. And your pet passport. Might not be needed, but better to have on hand than not.

If you feel in your gut that it is an emergency, insist on being seen tonight. An owner knows best.

Be aware that there is an after-hours fee added to your bill.

Do you speak German? If not make it clear that you need to speak to someone in English. Most vets have some facility with English.

For folks in ZG, SZ, and the lower part of the Zürichsee, another 24/7 clinic is Ennetsee in Hünenberg ZG, here:

http://www.ennetseeklinik.ch/site/index.cfm

Same procedure applies, call first.

Paws crossed for you pup.

Napalc, is your dog's stomach distended?

Does she try to vomit but cannot?

Is she able to pass urine or a stool?

Please do not wait until tomorrow - call the vet at the Tierspital now, discuss your dog's symptoms.

I wouldn't wait, it could be pancreatitis. Call the hospital and see what they advise.

Thank you so much everyone for your advice and concern! I made her some boiled chicken and plain rice and she has eaten it just now so I think she is headed in the right direction, even if she is feeling very sorry for herself It is good to have in my phone for an emergency so thank you again!

Re: help! Emergency 24/7 vet care in Zurich

Thanks for asking! She seemed better last night but this morning she was worse so I took her straight to the vet and she was put on a drip and given a few injections to make her feel better. The vet thinks she will be ok now and I just have to keep an eye on her to make sure she is improving, otherwise I will takr her back for more tests tomorrow. It wasn't anything lethal like poisoning or an infection so it is looking good!
