Moving with a cat (originated in EU but traveling from Turkey)

Hello everyone,

I am hoping to move to Zurich at the end of August (hopefully the visa will be issued in time) and will be bringing my cat (3 yo) with me. The cat is originated from the EU (Austria) therefore holds a EU pet passport and we lived there until 2015 and I transported her back to Turkey with me when I was moving from Austria to Turkey. She has all of her vaccinations and titration test and a microchip registered in her passport. Will she be considered a pet from the EU or from Turkey as they have different requirements for those 2 countries.

Thank you all in advance!

If the cat is in Turkey now, then you must follow the rules for importation from Turkey, previous EU status has no bearing.

All the best with your move.

It will be Turkey as that is her home at the moment. You can use the BLV's website to find out what the requirements are.

Re: Moving with a cat (originated in EU but traveling from Turkey)

Thank you for the replies! I sincerely appreciate all the help.

I have looked into the website and it seems like the only additional things I need are a written form from the vet and another form to email to the authorities in Switzerland so they can give me an OK to travel beforehand. Does anyone have any experience with that procedure?
