Quick question regarding dog registration.

Hello all.

We successfully imported our Westie from Canada. We have completed the online form from our community and received our dog tag. They sent us some information about AMICUS, but the vet we'd like to see is closed until the 28th of August. Since the community has entered some of the information into AMICUS, is it possible to wait until our preferred vet is back from holiday? Or should we just go to another practice so as to comply with the 10 day registration deadline? Or are we okay, since the community has (apparently) already started the process?

Thank you!

Olivia and Fergus the Westie

Re: Quick question regarding dog registration.

It's likely fine to wait for your own vet.

The registration appointment is a good 'getting to know you' opportunity; your vet may want to do a routine check, discuss medical history, vaccination plans, etc. So it makes sense to wait until your preferred vet returns from holidays.

It is highly unlikely that you would be questioned, but if you are the fact that the process has been started with the Gemeinde should be sufficient. Simply explain that the vet is on holidays. It is common here, and well understood, that things get put on hold, or grind to a stop, during the holiday times.

Hope Fergus is enjoying his first taste of Switzerland.

Re: Quick question regarding dog registration.

Thank you again Melloncollie!

I was hoping that would be acceptable. I've heard good things about our intended vet, so I'm relieved that I'll likely be fine.

Ferg has been a little off. Either extremely tired or over excited (complete with barking :O) I'm chalking it up to being out of whack with jet-lag, travel hang-over, and all new environment. We moved from rural Canada to city, although Bern is pretty relaxed and our neighbourhood has been very welcoming of our furry friend. Also, NEW FOOD. We've been doing frequent walks to explore the area with him to make him comfortable, but he's still not quite himself. :/

We've been giving him extra love and attention to compensate. <3

Thank you again!

Olivia

Re: Quick question regarding dog registration.

Welcome to Bern! I have a happy sociable Airedale who when it's quieter I walk down by the river here in Muri.

If you fancy some company for a doggy walk send me a pm😬
