i have a weimaraner, energetic but extremely friendly and playful.male 4 years old. i also have 3 cats. As a need to return to malta every few months, any idea where i can take my dog and costs involved? or is anyone available for fostering while i am away? (not more than a week at a time max).

I am looking to give a good home to a small to medium sized dog. Preferably a terrier of some kind. I would prefer that the dog is 2 years old or older and not too much of a barker!

The first place to look is the Switzerland-wide database of homeless animals compiled by the Schweizer Tierschutz:

Select the type of animal (in your case, Hund), and age, sex, location if that matters, and any other criteria from the list given. You'll find contact details of the organization caring for the dog under 'zur Anbieter-Information'.

Also take a look at the Tierschutzbund Basel (they don't always post on the national database):

The dogs are cared for by the folks at Tierheim Forellenbach in Therwil, a bit outside of Basel. I adopted one of my muttleys from them - they are good people, and I will forever be grateful to them for saving my old guy from what would have been a pretty bleak fate.

my weimaraner, Congo, is not for rehoming. He is extremely sweet but eneregetic, I am just looking for someone to foster him while I go back to Malta to visit my folks or during holiday breaks. So, if you are interested in doing this, I would be glad to keep in touch. He lives with cats at my house, which I am bringing over to Switzerland with me too next month. Congo is used to living indoors but preferably, needs a balcony, garden or terrace.
