That old chestnut, 'There's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing' applies all the more so to dog owners.
Invest in some serious wet-weather gear. You'll have plenty of opportunity to use it here in Switzerland.

I certainly won't win any fashion points in my dog-walking get-up, but at least I stay dry.
One of my dogs seems to be missing the 'off' switch

, which means 2-4 hours of walking is needed, no matter what the weather - or she'll find other ways of amusing herself.

So out we go, even in torrential downpours.
If you find that you absolutely can't get out, Dibbydoo's suggestion is an excellent one. Games provide mental exercise, which dogs need as much as physical - and brain-training tires a dog out far faster.
A very good little book with ideas for games to play with your dog, inside and out:

Most games/toys suggested here can be made with common household items.
The author also has website (
http://www.spass-mit-hunde.de), but for some reason it seems to be down at the moment.
Happy - and hopefully dry - dogwalking!

| Quick question for all you dog owners out there - whilst we have been having lovely weather, today is an exception, which makes walks rather impossible at the moment. Pissing down hard here and was wondering if you all have any tips to share on how burn off your dog's energy in bad weather? (besides waiting for the rain to stop) | |
