Death of pets :-(

I didn`t want to derail Janes thread about her cat (i am sorry for your lose Jane)

So i thought i would start a new thread about death of pets

I lost my dog to a drunk driver my brother was walking her while i was at work, and she hit my dog, she was still alive so my brother asked the bitch to stay with Fifi while she rang my Uncle who lived down the road, she said yes, then when my brother went back the bitch had driven off, because she was a big dog you need to ring the police this happened years ago, and i still miss her

No the bitch drove off, we tried everything to find her, even wrote to the newspaper but the coward she was never came forward

She was my baby i brought her up from being a puppy coming home in my breaks to take her out, e.t.c.

She used to wait for me at the window when i was coming home from school (she knew) god i miss her

You left your bitch with a bitch or was the driver of the car named Fifi...?

Sutter you do realise that the correct term for a female dog is a "bitch" so technically my post was correct if your female dog(bitch) was run over by a drunk driver and does not warrant a groan!

I have to admit it took me about three reads to understand the initial post. Using bitch to define the driver was not appropriate do linguistic confusion, my sincerest sympathies and hopefully the woman at least felt bad about it when she sobered up/.

Re: Death of pets :-(

I just wanted to say that I really feel for you Sutter.
Loosing a pet is always hard (and something that I think only anuimal people really ever understand), but I can't imagine loosing one under those circumstances.

I have lost several over the years, and the one I still really get upset about is my sweet old greyhound Jerry. We adopted him aged 11 after his previous owners dumped him at a rescue centre because he was too much hard work (apparently the husband cried when they dropped him off, but the new 'trophy' wife didn't even want to leave their details so they could be infromed when he found a new home).

He died 5 months after coming to us of cancer. I am still angry he didn't get longer being loved and cherished in a home that never found him hard work.

Actually yes it does. A female dog is a bitch... End of story!

Actually Sutter I think everyone has experienced this at some time or another. I have had pets die and had one run over by a car too. But FFS it was years ago life goes on.

I'm not denying you loved your pet, but there is no point in living in the past. There are people that lose much more important things then pets every day, be happy for what you have and not miserable because someone ran over your dog years ago.

Sorry Sutter about the dog it really hurts... and guys.... initially I couldnt stop laughing reading the comments... but it is not appropriate

Many years ago when I was still a teenager, I had a parrot that I taught how to speak basic words and amongst them my name. She was brilliant and intelligent little birdie. Later in the season, I left her with my grandparents at the cottage, while I was away on summer vacation. One day they tried to clean the cage and opened up the door. They made mistake and the parrot flew away. I havent seen her ever since. It was a profound loss to me at that time.

Re: Death of pets :-(

Hey Sutter, The way you told the story did start some funny and possibly insensitive replies. Why did your brother, trust the driver, that had run your dog over and leave her at the scene? Was he really niave or young?
I love dogs and have had many and I miss all of those that have gone. My dog, Scamp. a Jack Russell cross Terrorist, is a little B***ard at times and I'm always calling him, a son of a bitch. My wife hates it, BUT HE IS,. Fact! Love him to death though.

I know how you feel. Our parrot escaped once when we were in Japan. We were so lucky that she was found the next day. She was clever, she took shelter from the cold on a neighbour's balcony and owner of the house next door had a good view of the balcony and spotted her. We had put up signs and so she called us. But that one night without her I couldn't even look at the empty cage. If you have never owned a parrot, it can be difficult to imagine how they interact with us humans.

Only people who have lost a much beloved pet will understand, and it does not matter how long ago, they were part of our life.
