Hey, does anybody know of a dog pound where they have a good number of dogs/pups I could look at with the intention to adopt one?

That one has an "interactive" map which allows you to click the flag representing the canton of your interest... or you can click the type of pet you're interested in, this list is sorted by date but the description includes the canton.

Generally the descriptions for the animals are done in the language of the canton... most of them are short enough that a quick copy paste into bablefish produces at least (mostly) understandable translations. (Much like when I was looking for apartment, similar words are seen time and again so "soon" you will be able to get the gist without even needing to get it translated.

You may need to check regulations for that as (from what I understand) some animals that typically live in communities (such as our guinea pigs) are only "available" if you are willing to have at least two.

I am unsure about hamsters but you may want to check it out.
