another dog thread

hiya all,
I have been following a few threads about dogs and pets sitting in the last couple of days, and they jogged my memory about something (cruel? bewildering? - I let you choose) that happened in Guernsey last year.

check out the link and cringe

Re: another dog thread

Mmmm .......... So, moral of the story could be ..... check out the security of the cages before committing ones animal to "care" ...... maybe also the breeds of other dogs in the kennel...?

Re: another dog thread

I think the moral of the story is:

Check out the service provider thoroughly; test safety measures in place, quality of care, attention to individual needs, ability (and willingness) to follow owner's instructions, understand the provider's view on animal care, visit unannounced wherever possible, check references carefully, etc. Discuss the 'what ifs'.

And be aware that not everyone offering pet care services is qualified to do so, or takes the responsibility seriously - or is even a pet lover.

Unfortunately.

(I dread the day my wonderful sitter retires. I don't think I can face the stress of finding trustworthy dog care again...)
