| | | New Kitty Costs
Hi guys!
I know this has been covered before but not thoroughly, at least that is what my search came up with . I just called a few vets in the Basel area and came up with these costs if someone gets a new kitty:
Chip implantation: ~80 CHF
Rabies vaccination: 54-65 CHF
Neutering (female cat): 195-300 CHF
I found one doctor that really gave me a good feeling so I am planning on taking the kids to see him soon. Ill update you on my experience.
Cheers!

Good luck with your new Kitty. I am sure it will be worth every penny, or rather Rappen..

I can recommend dr. Frey in Oberwil who takes care of our kitties. http://www.pferdetierarzt.ch/pages/k...kleintiere.htm She's friendly and speaks excellent English and even though I don't have any professional knowledge in the area, seems to do a good job - everything is done so quickly that cats don't even seem to mind.

My best advice would be to take out Pet insurance (e.g. Animalia) ASAP. I took it out the day I got my little monster, and 3 weeks later he managed to swallow enough fabric to create an intestinal obstruction (requiring an operation). The final vet bill was just shy of CHF 1000 and unfortunately as he was only 3 weeks into the policy, none of this was covered (no coverage for the first month). The yearly excess for Animalia is CHF 500.

Our boy had a bit of a territorial issue with our girl when we brought him home. After a couple of weeks, the vet gave him the snip, he was less than 3 months at that time. In the US, it seems to be quite common to snip boys quite early now, 8 weeks!
As for attaching your pictures, you can do them as attachments (make sure they're not too big), or load them onto a service like Flickr and then insert the image using the yellow mountain/sky icon above. And please do, I'd love to see your kitties!

Is it mandatory for cats to be chipped?
Dogs I thought so, never heard of cats having to be chipped though.
