Cat boarding/sitting

Desperately looking for a cattery or a cat sitter for April. We are going home for two weeks and my cat needs looking after. I have seen some web sites but they charge up to 65CHF a day, I can buy a new cat for that. Can anyone suggest somewhere/someone. We live in Zurich near the zoo.

Oh cool.

So if you don't find an affordable cat sitter you will turf your cat and buy a new one when you get back from holidays?

No, but in Australia cat sitting is either done for free or at a cattery for no more than $30 a day and that is an expensive cattery. I am just surprised at what people are charging.

then ask the cat sitter to come every other day or every 3 days. This way you get back to your acceptable rate.

it's not joking. I used to do that when i lived alone with my cat but have to go for a short business trip. I don't feel like dropping my cat to those cat hostels due to hygiene reason but I couldn't find a cat sitter because my trip is always unplanned. I leave a big bowl (sometimes 2 bowls at different spot) and a very full clean cat sands and 2 big bowls of water. I asked my friend to go to check for a day in the middle of my trip.

Re: Cat boarding/sitting

I think that is the price for leaving your cat at someone's place. But if someone goes and feed your cat it would cost half of that so maybe posting here could help.
Remember though things is CH are more expensive than errrr anywhere

Re: Cat boarding/sitting

65 CH a day is a lot, but if you look around you should find cheaper offers.
In my area I found some cat sittings for a price range of 20CH-35CH.
I am sure you'll find something similar in Zurich too.

Re: Cat boarding/sitting

When my husband and I had to return to the UK recently for a long weekend I asked on the Forum if anyone would be able to look after our cat in their home and I received several lovely offers. It would seem that a lot of cat lovers have had to leave pets behind and, for whatever reason, are unable to have one here. Anyway, luckily our cat went to a lovely home and is going back this weekend!

Re: Cat boarding/sitting

Every time we have to leave we contact http://www.haustierbetreuung.ch/index.html.
It costs 28CHF per day and when we return the appartment is clean of cat hair and they also take care of our plants. We are very happy with the service. I hope this will help you.
