Hi
Rather than starting a new thread. Are there are any cattery's that you can recommend to me for an outdoor cat?
Do you know if the names mentioned in the thread here are still valid?
And what is the correct German term for a cattery, here in Lux it's animal pension.
thanks

I don't understand why you have the pay for every cat when you get a cat home-visitor or whatever they are called. Quite honestly the work involved is almost the same.
I suppose that it is like for every kind of service: supply and demand.
I look after my friends' and niehgbours' pets for free, and they do the same for me. To expect somebody to visit your home twice a day (possibly from fairly far away, involving petrol of public transport) for 15 CHF a day, is just not cricket, really. Must say I am amazed at the number of people who are posting a few days before leaving for 2 week or even more holiday (probably planned for some time) asking for sitting services for 1 or many pets, for tiddlywinks in return and in the busiest period of the year

If you want to go away in July/August, Christmas/New Year or Easter - please try to make arrangements as early as possible, immediately after booking the holiday (I'd say, even better, before).

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

Hello, everyone -

My husband and I live outside of Zurich in Adliswil (moved here last week). We have two indoor cats (aged 2 years) and are planning our trip home around the holidays. We will be gone at home in the US from December 9-28, 2011 and are looking for someone to help with the kitties. We love the idea of a shared-service as we would also like taking care of others' animals as well when we are here. Is anyone interested in this? Please let us know.

Otherwise, they are somewhat timid cats, so we are considering two options:

1) having someone come to the house every two days and replenish food/water, change the litter. I have an automated feeding machine that will give them enough food for 2 days and an automatic water dish too. They do not need to be played with much because they will be scared. Ideally, we would find a teenager (or neighbor) who wants a little extra cash and can do this job or trade for other pet services.

Or

2) Having them stay with someone who has the space.

As I mentioned, they are indoor cats and we would prefer not to bring them to a kitty hotel as this will be more expensive and if they will be scared anyways, we would prefer them to be somewhere more comfortable, with what they are used to (whether this is the apartment or just having their toys and belongings).

I agree with a previous poster in that for what we need, the price shouldn't vary too much (if at all) between 1st and 2nd cat. It's just a little more food, a little more litter (which of course we'd provide). Looking for the best solution for the cats and for our wallet.

Any help is appreciated. Trying to be proactive about this and if we do not find a solution, then I guess they will come with us. Please respond or PM me.

Thanks, All!!

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

Where do live? I could possibly help out if you are very near to Adliswil. The other reason I can't fully commit is because I am not sure what my Xmas plans are yet. If I stay there is an 80% chance I can take care of your cats.

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

Hi

Can anyone make a recommendation for a cattery that doesnt put all the cats in one room together? I have two that I recently brought to Zurich from the UK and they are used to staying in a Cattery just in their own area. One is very timid and not good with other cats except his brother so I dont want to overly stress him (plus his german is limited).

We'd also consider having a cat sitter come in once a day to feed them and change litter etc if anyone has a good, trustworthy recommendation.

Any hints or tips would be great, especially for ENglish speaking providers as my German is still v poor. (I live in Hongg but can drive them to the right place if not to far away)

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

C
