Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

Hello...I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend cat care in Zurich. We are going to Canada for 4 weeks and we really need a sitter for our babies...Best would be in our home, but I am not sure about a stranger living in my house for that long, Any suggestions?

Re: Cat care

I have friends who used someone in Zurich, apparently she comes round and feeds them a couple of times a day, changes the litter etc.

I'll get details for you.

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

Thank you, I think 30.-/day is quite expensive considering I have two and it's for three weeks!!! Thanks for the tip though. I think 15 - 20 per day is ideal and affordable

The person my people know around 30:- (IIRC). But that is for her to come to your house and feed the cats.

That 30:- is per cat per day. And that's not expensive, I'd be suspect of leaving my cats (if I had any) or 15 a day. It's a bit cheap.

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

there have been a few that I have seen for 15 - 20 per cat per day, maybe you're right but I can't afford to spend 1260.- for 3 weeks. I am also going to be spending money in Canada collecting all of my"goodies" LOL. Maybe my neighbor will be willing to do so

Are you looking for a cat hotel or someone to come over 2 X a day, feed, change litter and give 'em a cuddle? Or are you open to both options? Are they indoor cats? Would you want to unsettle them (I reckon they'll be pretty pissed at you if you stick them in a hotel)

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

That's the problem, they are very affectionate cats and they need a lot of cuddles. They are indoor cats!! SO I am not sure that if a person comes by twice a day that they'll get what they need. But I am also unsure how the cat hotels are, ex: a lot of affection and play, or are they just put in caged areas . I personally never had to do this, so I am pretty scared.... I dont think they'll like leaving home... but how can I trust some stranger in my home? I am really confused....

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

Well in these cases we always ask a friend or a neighbour but we do not generally go away for so long.

Its a bit far away for me to be able to offer.

Otherwise does no one around have a teenage kid that might do it for pocket money so to speak?

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

Hi
I tentatively started a cat sitting network on yahoo groups about a month ago and I seem to recall at least a couple of subscribers; the idea is that we offer cat sitting duties to one another when we can.
Seeing as I started this, I am thinking that I should offer to come visit your cats for a month! Which would probably be doable depending on where you live.
Anyhoo, you could also try posting to the aforementioned cat network here:

cheers
Leyla

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

We use the cat hotel in Birmensdorf - its on the main road and cant be missed - there are no cages, the cats have a two floor building with large windows and many places to play / hide / sleep as well as large outdoor enclosed areas that are always available to them.

Space in the hotel is limited but the owners take good care of the cats, we are pretty sure that ours get good attention as they are generally wary but have befrended the owners. The owners gave us a full tour of the place a few months before we went away to make sure that we were 100% happy.

Take a look at their website they now have some excellent photos on there showing the facilities as well as the 'guests', at first I was hesitant paying to put three cats in here for three weeks at a time, but now I have no qualms about it as they are treated so well - http://www.buesi.ch/.

Oh and be careful offering to catsit, I looked after a strangers cat in Zurich a few years ago and now I'm married to her

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

Hi everyone,
I live in Zurich 8001. I travel a lot but when I am in town I could help you with the cat. I have a cat too. I don't need any money. I would need your help with my cat in return when I am away. I have a big flat right in the center and your cat can stay with me.
By the way I am going away on the 13th of December untill the 2nd of January. Can anyone help me with my cat?

Best regards,
Irina

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

Hello,

Further to these postings, has anyone found a reliable cattery? We have two cats and 60 CHF per day is a bit expensive.

Any advice or help would be much apprecited!

Thanks!
