Hi - we live in Oberwil, Basel and are going back to the UK on October 14th to 22nd. We need to find a cat sitter for our very friendly cats (2 of them). Can anyone recommend anybody who can help me? We have tried nearly everyone we know and most are going away.

Jane, have you ever left them with strange cats, or had strange cats over in their space? (Basically, do you know if they're alright with "new" cats?)

I could be willing to watch them at my place, depending upon how well they might get on with my cat.

Bonny (my cat) has been pretty good at dealing with visitor pets in her space but I know not all cats are so complacent with newcomers, however temporary they may be.

We left our cat at www.tbb.ch in the centre of Basel. On the right hand side there's a link to 'Tierpension'. It's not the same as a UK cattery as all the cats go into one room together but ours seemed to be ok with it. Cost about 15chfs per day I think. They speak English too if you get the right person. I booked by email as my German still isn't good enough...

Neighbours are good to - ours fed our cat for us for our last trip (urgent last minute funeral...) and probably will in the future but if they can't I'd happily send her back to TBB again.

How frequent do your cats need care?? Is it okay every 2 or 3 days to come feed/water them? Or do you want some one everyday?

With some "Tierheim"s, cats need to be up-to-date with all shots, so don't leave it for too late!

I echo what BruceFan says - I started the Basel Expat catsitters about 18 months ago because my kitties needed to stay at home whilst we went away. Have met some lovely, like minded people through it, and we're now trying to expand. Even if it doesn't suit you this time, please consider joining for the future
