I`m wondering that when the cat is home alone and the sun has already set.... does he prefer the lights on or does it make no difference? | | This user would like to thank jivegirl for this useful post: | |

Not a problem. Cats are essentially nocturnal creatures anyway. Not to mention they can see considerably better than you in the dark.
Of course this could depend on the character of your moggy, but it's a very rare cat that's afraid of the dark.

Cats cannot see in total darkness, they're not bats a small night light should be sufficient.

Maybe ask him, see what he says? Communication in a relationship is very important.

I agree with the "one light on" reply. They see better than us in the dark and don't need a lot of light (but need some).

I also used to wonder that when I'd get home and my cats would be in darkness. They would meow at me and I was never sure if they were greeting me or sweating at me! I think they appreciate it if we keep a little light on for them |

I believe they don't mind to be in the dark. In fact, they enjoy it! Plus, we are not talking about total darkness, right? I guess the moonlight can do a decent job itself, when it comes to cat's night vision, once they can see at only one-sixth the light level required for human vision.

Our cat prefers the dark, then she can scare the dogs!

Not sure about the dark, but cats prefer plain crisps. It must be true because the graffiti was written in big block letters 3 feet high.

The dark is more a problem for cat owners. I once skipped barefoot in the dark to switch off the computer and trod on the cat. I don't know who was more shocked. The cat had lightning reactions and left me limping around dripping blood from my foot. Luckily the cat didn't seem much the worse for the experience and I switch the light on now.

I'm not sure about light on or off. But I am sure that he knows that when all the lights go off it's time to move from the couch to the bed.

Not sure what they prefer, but ours are spoiled. Lights on timers upstairs and down so that they have light in the evenings until we go to bed.

why don't you install a light switch for the cat then it can decide for itself.
