Everyone is familiar with the feeling that reality is stranger than fiction. But not quite as strange as what happens to Harold Crick. Imagine, if you will, that you are in your bathroom, cleaning your teeth when suddenly you hear a woman's voice narrating what you are doing. Then the voice contemplates how you are going to die. Freaky! Swiss director Marc Forster, who now lives in the USA, tells this story with superb actors and a shatteringly dry sense of humour. Congenial screen adaptation of a modern literary idea.
