I just wondered if anyone has a sewing machine they would like to get rid, or if anyone knows where I can get a good one at a reasonable price?

The same request for hiking boots, UK women's size 5/6 (European 38/39) and UK men's size 8 (European 42)?

just to second your question, i'd also be curious about where to find a good sewing machine (near Zurich, perhaps?) and/or do you know of someone who could help me refurb/tweak one found at the fleamarket?
(i'm trying not to spend too much money..this is one expensive city!)

challenge question: i have a really heavy-duty project on the horizon, anyone know where i might find an industrial-strngth sewing machine, just to borrow, i suppose?
perhaps i could waltz into a fabric store and kindly plead with the owner?

You could try a cobbler/shoe repair type person. They often have industrial sewing machines for leather. Or I have gone to sailmakers in the past to get canvas sewn they are usually pretty helpful, depends on what type of heavy duty project you have.

However this was back in the land of Oz......
