IGVelo - 2nd hand bike markets

Hello, I am after a ladies city bike free if possible, or for quite cheap - just for running about town on. Does anyone have one or know where i can get a second-hand one?
Thank you
Zoe

Re: City bike wanted

Try http://www.velomarkt.ch/veloboerse.php

I found a fabbo bike thanks to an Expat who was leaving the country - a lot more affordable than the prices charged by the stores here. Perhaps put an ad up in the ETH whiteboard - http://www.marktplatz.unizh.ch/index.cgi - there're loads of Expats coming and going at the ETH, so maybe you'll also be lucky.

Re: City bike wanted

If you can hold on until September 24th, there'll be a Bike Sale (Velo Boerse/Börse) at Bürkliplatz in Zurich, between 9am and 3pm. Get down early and check what's on offer - as usual the good stuff goes early. Bring a fist full of cash, and don't expect to bargain, it's usually not done on these occassions (but you can try if the bike's a ghastly colour).

Usually there're two prices on the tag: one the sellers price and then the commission price from the organisers - something like 10% or so. You simply wheel the chosen bike from its place to the stall where the organisers will 'clear' it and there you pay. And then you cycle home (bring a bike lock before you go if you intend to do further shopping on the way back!)

If you can't wait, there'll be an earlier Börse in Winterthur, at the Neumarkt, on September 16th.

Happy days. Oh, by the way, get one with mud-guards. It rains a lot here...

Where to buy a second hand bike in Basel?

Hi,

Has anyone got a good tip on where to go to buy a second hand bike in Basel (just for general use, to and from work etc.)??

And how much should I be paying for such a bike?

Thanks,

Barry

Re: Where to buy a second hand bike in Basel?

I just found this site yesterday that looks like it might be good for you - a big used bike sale in Basel on April 14th/15th (2007).

Re: IGVelo - 2nd hand bike markets

We picked up a very nice bike for 150 CHF at the Helvetia Platz flea Market yesterday (April 14). There were many more bikes available, most for 50-60 CHF. I think it is every Saturday, from 8-4.

Wanted - Nice 2nd hand men's bike

Looking for a road bike, mostly for riding around Zurich and bringing home groceries! Prefer a city bike with wide tires and multiple gears (not 1 gear). I am about 178cm, so average size bike with a basket would be great.

Budget is between 100-200CHF. In Zurich.

Thanks!

If you can up your budget a bit, check with MParc Sport XX (Part of Migros Group).

You can have new bikes for 300 +

Wanted: Mountain/City Bike in Zurich

Hello -

I'm taking part in a 'Bike to Work' programme at my new office, so I'm looking for a simple, cheap bike in the Zurich area. Age is not important, as long as it's in decent condition. I'm not looking to pay any more than 100 francs, so nothing fancy. I'm happy to collect - please reply if you have anything suitable taking up space that you don't need any more.

Thanks,

Bren
