Wanted to hire/buy: Trailer

I need a trailer for a week in Jan - anyone got one I can hire / buy. Not too big, with sides, for transporting general stuff, not bikes or cars.

I know Obi sells trailers. Maybe also ask at your local garage?

Don't want a new one - far too mean. Local garages could be a good bet though.

Re: Wanted to hire/buy: Trailer

Can't help you as I only have a boat trailer and it is in use. Just be sure you have a highway vignette on the trailer as well if you go on teh highway and do not exceed 80 kmh, or it will be costly...

How did I miss this thread?

If I rented out mine I would have nowhere to call home.

ok, for the colonials out there, a trailer is a device that is towed behind a car with the purpose of carrying things from one place to another.

It is not something you could live in - that is called a caravan and is universally hated by all road users.

Re: Wanted to hire/buy: Trailer

Our horse box is pretty much snowed in at the mo Bob but we did borrow a trailer, flat with hinged sides, from our local garage a couple of months ago to transport gravel. For a couple of "Spiffing Ales" I could ask them if it's still available - he uses it to transport his racing bike so can't imagine it'll be used at the moment.

Re: Wanted to hire/buy: Trailer

I managed to find a van hire place in Zurich which also hires trailes with unlimited Kms use. They just charge by the day, weekend or week and seem quite cheap too. Link below. Now, all I need is a towbar fitter....

Re: Wanted to hire/buy: Trailer

be careful with certain speed limits when towing, btw. Don't ask me what they are but they're certainly reduced when compared to when you're not towing.

I have a spare towbar in the back of my Landie

Re: Wanted to hire/buy: Trailer

I just bought an A4 Quattro to make the long journeys home a bit easier. Not sure I'd fancy a round trip to Southampton in a LR! I'll check on the speed tip, thanks.

From what I have already learnt, I could guess that the Swiss are wise enough to keep towing speeds down however, I don't think the French really car about towing speeds as the last trip I did to the UK, I was overtaken at 85MPH by a loon in a ford Focus towning a large box trailer! (And it was snowy/icy)
