wanted - swiss kid bike with no pedals

I am looking to buy 2 swiss kid bikes, the kind with no pedals. They can be the traditional ones that are wooden or not, I am not too picky.

Thanks
Dave

Have a look on ebay or ricardo should get a good deal. My little boy had one and it was brilliant for him to learn how to balance.

I picked one up in Athleticum for a friends kid a while back. They weren't that expensive, can't remember exactly what I paid though.

If you get a small Puky ("Laufrad"), make sure it has a brake. The robust air-filled wheels make it really fast even going down a slight downhill pavement. (Advice from first-hand experience; we have one without brakes)

Yes - the Puky comes with or without. See thumbnail in post. Of course, they only came out after we'd bought ours. You can also get a brake and stand fitted later at a dealer/mechanic (e.g. Elsener in Zurich-Seefeld), but that may cost as much as buying a new one

The wooden "Like-a-bike" doesn't have a brake, but it has different wheels and doesn't pick up so much speed.

Our son's Puky has two brakes - front and rear. These were fitted as standard. My son loves the bike and as it has real tyres which are also chunky, it's great off-road on the forest tracks. It's really amazing where they can be ridden and there are no sharp bits so when he comes off on a corner, he's fine.

I would definitely recommend getting one with brakes. Your child can ignore them to begin with and then use them as they get used to the bike.

We tried to buy second-hand but had no luck so ended up buying new.

Re: wanted - swiss kid bike with no pedals

To clarify: Puky has a wide range of children's "vehicles", no-pedal bikes (Laufrad), scooters in all sizes, tricycles and regular bikes. They are very good quality. So if you can't get one second-hand, buy new - they have a high re-sell value.
Reminder for this spring: look out for the many second-hand bicycle markets "Velobörse", which will be taking place all over.

Re: wanted - swiss kid bike with no pedals

The bikes are called LikeABike, their website is at www.likeabike.ch. I know a place in Bern where you can buy them.
My son had a wooden one and he loved it literally to pieces, best thing we ever bought!
I wouldn't buy one at a velobörse because these bikes tend to have a pretty hard life, and not all börses check kids bikes properly to see they are in good order.

Re: wanted - swiss kid bike with no pedals

There is another good looking wooden bike made in the Uk I have come across that I am thinking of ordering for my child who is about to turn two. http://www.kiddimoto.co.uk/shopmain.php They do them several colors and you can get them personalised as well with your childs name and a number. Whats even better is that they ship them to Switzerland.
