In the spirit of “what goes around, comes around” on English Forum, I’m offering up this road bike for auction. The proceeds of the auction will be donated to the running costs of English Forum itself. The bike is one of a pair that came my way from Swissbob, who must be credited for passing them on so reasonably within the forum community.

The bike itself:
Racer (Athleticum brand)
Frame size – Large or a measured 54cm from bottom bracket axle to seat tube top (suits someone around 175-180cm)
Groupset – Full Shimano Tiagra 27 speed
Age – 3 to 4 years old
Condition – mechanically as new, I would estimate only 300 to 500km of use, minor transport scratches.
Pedals - Road style or MTB clip in pedals included
New replacement price – CHF999
Location – pick up from central Zurich.

This bike would be a brilliant entry level bike for someone wanting to get into road bike riding and touring, e.g. Frau Yokine is using this bikes smaller sister to kick my arse on 90km rides. It would be great to see it go to someone interested in joining in some of the summer riding that Hillseeker & Co are advocating.

The catch. As this auction aims to repay some good deeds, the highest bid does not necessarily win. If the only bids are for “silly low amounts”, I reserve the right to award the auction to a lower bidder who I also consider to have made a positive contribution to the forum. No arguments entered into.
