Hello
I love the speed and the flat rides, I had a good quality mountain bike and had decided no to do more MTB.
So this year I decided to sell the MTB and build me a Time Trial bike with that money and a little more.
The frame come from Bailey Bikes
www.bailey-bikes.com John Bailey is the owner and he is a mechanical engineer who also do road cycling and cyclocross, so they produce and sell the bikes in California USA.
I got the frame and handlebars ( Profile Design monocoque one piece stem/bars and adjustable carbon aerobars ) from ebay where he has a ebay store.
The wheels and parts came from The Pro's Closet that is an internet seller who resells parts from many cycling pros who have to upgrade often, the Dura Ace full set was almost shining new.
It has a full 10 speed Dura Ace with the big chainrings 56/44 and the smallest cassette 11-21.
It is damn fast.
I am fit but not at all an strong rider, this is something I do for pure pleasure and fitness.
On my usual flat ride at lake zürich I average 30Kmh and have a peak on my routine flat ride of 42kmh while pedaling inside but at the top of my confort zone. I could do more if I pushed it more. to do that I have to be at the 52/12 gear ( my road bike is a 52/39/30 with a 12-27 cassette ) at aprox 70 RPM
Well with this bike I reach the ~42Kmh with less effort and while I am still at the middle of the cassette ( 56/15 ) So there is still a lot of room to improve.
However one thing is sure, I'll have to develop biger and stronger Quadriceps to be able to push that big ring on the lower half of the cassete
I could reach 55 Kmh pedaling at the same RMP on the 56/11.
Unfortunately there has been so much rain those last days and together with the injury I couldn't ride it as much as I wanted.
Also I have to find a flat and long place without traffic to train myself on the handling with those aerobars, It is indeed a very different experience to ride a bike like this. You are on a much more forward position as the seat angle is steeper and the aerobars don't allow much handling.
Let's hope we still have many sunny days before the winter comes to enjoy it.
