Dining room table - chairs
Out door furniture
Book shelf
Bed side tables
Desk

I would love to hear from you if you have anything.... or you could point me in the right direction!

Kind regards,

Re: Wanted - in Luzern (Jan/Feb 2009)

Hi Charde,

Like your style! I too am in Luzern and I pretty much furnished my whole flat with stuff that was either free or dirt cheap... hmm, maybe, it's an Aussie thing... (and that was BEFORE I discovered the English-Forum!)
The free sofa-bed was indeed fire-engine red, but I think it has lots of character
Ok...
1) Check out www.gratis-inserate.ch
A bit like the 'Trading-Post'.. but also contains quite a few free items. Great for furniture
2) www.ricardo.ch- a bit like ebay, can also find some bargains.
3) "Brockenhaeuser" (=Op Shops).. great for bits and pieces, kitchen utensils, pillows, bed linen, lamps, pots and pans etc. NOT always great for larger furniture like beds, tables, so be careful (often not much difference to buy new)
There are 2 main ones in Luzern. 1) Luzerner Brockenhaus, Klosterstrasse 14; and 2) Caritas Laden, Bleicherstrasse 10. Also a smaller Salvation Army (Heilsarmee) place in Habsburgerstrasse.
4) The flea-markets down by the Reuss run from June-October.

Can you tell I moved here as a student?
Best of luck with your move. Feel free to get in touch if you need help with anything, by the way.

Cheers!

Oh thank you so much.... great advice.

Yeah us Aussie's love a bargain. Plus I love the challenge of putting all my bits and pieces together and making my space look unique, not like it is straight out of a catalogue. Get the creative juices flowing!!

The only thing is I cannot read German, would I struggle to use those websites?

Are you living in the Luzern area?

Thanks again!

Re: Wanted - Furniture in Luzern (Jan/Feb 2009)

Hi,

Yeah, I'm in Luzern.. right near the Altstadt. Don't worry, you're not the first one to move here without any german.. the websites are pretty easy to use..
(Möbel= furniture, Gratis= free)

http://www.google.com/language_tools is a pretty good translator if you get stuck. Also www.dict.cc is a good english-german online dictionary. They'll help you understand what the adverts etc. are about. (actually, I think I learnt quite a lot of german this way!)
If you're having trouble contacting people etc. in german, like I said, I'm just a PM away..

easy to find online - search the forum here for 'brocki' or 'brockenhaus' and see what comes up.

Also, heilsarmee - is the salvation army - in Luzern
