Re: Nintendo Wii wanted (+ Wii Fit?) in ENGLISH!

I'd say it's like anything to do with general fitness, it is only as good as the time and effort you put in.

It's a good starter for anyone looking to get into exercise / weight loss, but doesn't want to go to the gym or venture out into the cold. It's cheaper than a years gym membership. Although it's not a full replacement for Gym / outdoor exercise.

This is from someone who used to go to the gym 3-4 times a week for several years and now is a complete slob.

You don't need to modify your harware anymore. Search for "wii softmod " in the net and you will find good guides on how to do. I did it and that's easy. You may only need to buy an external usb HD where to load your games from. New Wiis do not read backup copies of DVDs.

Re: Nintendo Wii wanted (+ Wii Fit?) in ENGLISH! [Ebikon (LU)]

Hello everyone!

It's been ages since I've started this thread and now that I have my Nintendo Wii for over 1,5 years I can provide this feedback:
  1. The Wii is only as good for fitness if its owner is committed to use it for this purpose. It will not do marvels, but the exercises from the Wii fit title are well-planned and it saves you some serious cash in gym fees. Downside is that you miss the "buddy" excercising.
  2. The games are fun and most are easy to play. I am a PC gamer (or always thought I was) but I must confess some titles are almost impossible to put down. Wiiware "World of Goo" is one of those. It's also indeed a good crowd pleaser, when you set the bowling alley up and play against other colleagues.
  3. The unlocking had me suffering for ages. I bought a regular (non-chipped) version of the Wii and due to some bad choices of updates I was stuck with a newer firmware which was harder to crack for over one year. My current version is 4.2e and I managed to fully crack it using this guide, which I consider REALLY easy to follow:
    http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...w-guide-67927/
  4. The bottom line is: the Wii serves the purpose of entertaining you and the guests, as long as you have the right soft(Wii)ware for it. I see the Wii as an incredible stepping stone for the future consoles (as you may see that "the big ones" have also cautiously adopted some features).
  5. Comparing it to "the big ones" is simply a waste of time, in my opinion. They have decided to really stitch up when it comes to GPUs and added services, plus they have hundreds of titles that I truly believe to be fascinating and extremely exciting to play. The Wii is on a league of its own, because of its simplicity and fresh approach to console gaming, which makes even our parents curious to give it a go. If I want to play hard and pay attention to Hi-Def graphics I can go to my PC... for indulging, silly, family and friends entertainment I go to the Wii.
nuff said,
Best regards to all,
Fernando
