Cardboard Boxes

Any new comers or recently moved members have cardboard boxes for sale or better give away for a donation. I have to move this summer but would like to start packing. Zurich Area would be great but will consider anything within reasonable distance.

Try your local 'Jumbo' supermarket. They sell large cardboard boxes of varying sizes, purprose-desiged for moving. They always had loads out around 'moving time' in Zuerich (March & Sept).

I wouldn't recommend using them second hand as they can easily get damaged or damp plus they're not too expensive to buy new.

Re: Cardboard Boxes

I know when I arrived many moons ago I had a lot of boxes to get rid of. I have no problem to buy them but that will be later nearer the time of the move. Welti Furri did my relocation and they gave me a price to dispose of any packaging, I did not take them up on it and would not like to see others befall this cost when they can do me a favour. Most removal companies give you boxes but as I have not committed myself to an company then I have to source the boxes myself. I have many options to find boxes this post is just one of them.

Re: Cardboard Boxes

You can always try your local supermarket. I forget how much they charge but it is very little (something like 50Rp to 1Fr). Just go to the information desk and ask for "Bananenschachteln" (banana boxes) and they will tell you if they have any. If you are out of luck you can always go back another day.
