| | | Wanted: Stair gate
As the joy of 3 labradors with a combined weight of almost 120 kgs, jumping on the bed at 3 am has worn off (they can open doors), I'm looking for a stair gate for their bedroom door.
If anyone has one and could pm me with the details that would be great.

I sympathize . Fortunately only one of our dogs can get on the bed, the others are happy to sleep in their dog beds on the floor of our room. As we have a house with many levels and we wanted to keep the dogs off some of the levels, we bought a gate at Toys R Us, manufacturer is Osann. It has a door that you can open to walk through. One model is an auto close so the door closes behind you. Toys R Us has a decent selection of gates and many do not need drilling to install as they fit with pressure, but if your dogs are very heavy, I am not sure how the pressure fit will hold. One of our best gates is a pressure fit gate with mesh that we bought while Japan. I have seen a similar model sold here. There is no walk through.
One other gate that is quite popular is the Kiddy Guard, it acts like a roller blind but you absolutely have to drill to install it. If you do not want to leave the gate up all day, I would likely go for the pressure fit mesh type, which you can take down quickly.
They have a lot of gates for sale on Ricardo, if you just want to take a look, which you do not need to be a member to do, you can use the search bar and insert the word "treppengitter", or türgitter.

Hello PG,
we have a couple of metal gates that we bought a couple of years ago. They are pressure fitting type but really quite strong. If you're interested I'll see if I can get some pictures posted but we won't be able to do that until the beginning fo next week.

We got ours from Ikea and they keep our dogs exactly where we want them They are usually in the Ikea Family section of the store.

Is that the manufacturer of yours? Ours is called the Easy Fit Plus, so not the auto close model, but that is the only difference. http://www.lindam.com/store/plus.html
I must admit it is quite a sturdy gate and ours is in place without any drilling, just pressure fit. It is as close to dog proof as you are going to get.
Ours came with multilingual instructions but through the link above you can download them. | | This user would like to thank Mrs. Doolittle for this useful post: | |

The smaller steel autoclose is Bettacare (?) designed for kids and small animals, the 3 fold larger one was imported from Germany with solid steel bars but needs to be fixed by screws(bolts)

Papa Goose, do your dogs have really nice dog beds? That worked for us, well for 2 out of the 3 dogs .

Yep snuggly with vet bed and a fleece blanket. They don't howl, Harry just decides he's had enough opens the doors, and then....

We have a gate that looks just like Mrs D's, bought at either Qualipet or Fressnapf. (Bought it years ago- but it wasn't a stock item, we had to order it from their catalogue.) However, I think we paid something on the order of CHF 150 - the Lindam one at £19 is quite a bargain!
I'm now looking for an extra tall, extra wide or flexible gate to block off our weirdly shaped stairwell. Next time I go back to the States, I may bring one of these back with me: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...3&pcatid=14993 http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...1&pcatid=18111
My problem is that the Hooligan can easily clear 100cm; I'm not even sure a 120cm gate would stop her. What ever was I thinking, teaching her Agility?
(Look on the bright side... no need for an alarm clock when you've got a dog or three. )
