I am offering my city bike for sale, the brand is Trek 7000 ( hand made in the US), its made of fairly light aluminum parts and is very robust. The bike is in perfect working condition and the reason I am selling is that I am just not using it anymore. It should suit some from 175 cm to 185 cm I reckon.

I checked out this bike with Rahul on Wednesday evening. It is quite a good bike, but a little old and has some rust around the pedals and the chains.
I didnt buy it because Rahul wasnt able to guarantee nothing major would go wrong with it for the next 5 days or so, and for me CHF 300 for a bike like that is alot. For a cheaper price maybe. I was concerned as Rahul mentioned it had been in his garage for one year without being ridden, and there is only so much you can tell in 5 to 10 mins.
I just wanted to pass out the information as it really is a good bike, but for me not cheap enough and in good enough condition for CHF 300.

thanks for the review Mel. As I mentioned back then, I was and I am still confident that the bike is in mint condition and will have no problems whatsoever. However, I am not a bike shop, I cannot sell my second hand goods at a very low price and expect to be even delivering after sales support. Those who are interested in the bike, should come prepared that they can ride the bike for 10-15 minutes, check the gears, brakes, wheels etc. and then decide to buy it for good. No coming back after a week to me, I am not a mechanic and I am not prepared for that hassle.

Nor should anyone expect you to, of all the things I ever sold privately they were always sold "as is". That's always the risk you take in buying second hand at a low price.

I did a bit of research to get a date for this bike. It was certainly made between 1993 and 1995, and given that it looks like it has a Shimano Exage crankset on it then it must be 1993 (if it is Shimano RSX then it would be '94 or '95). Here's the specs at Bikepedia.

From the photo, it looks to be decent condition for its age, and I expect it still has many good years of life left in it yet. Given the rubbish bikes that I see being sold on this forum for almost the same price, I think it's a pretty decent deal.

But to clarify what "hand made in the US" means in bicycle terms it normally refers to just the "frame" as being built in the US. Most bike components (i.e. Shimano) which are added to the frame are normally available world wide.
