If you go to Wabern (south side of Bern) and follow the Seftigenstrasse (main street) until you see a small bridge on you right hand side, right in front of a sub-division (coming from Bern), follow that small trail and it will take you to a local bike store. They sell used bikes for cheap money. You can get them starting at 50 CHF I think.
Just to make sure you don't get lost: once you are following that trail, it will take you through a farm first. So don't stop there. After the farm there will be a small pond on your left hand side. There will be a small building on the right, which should have a few bikes lined up all the way in the back. Just go in there and wait for assistance.
If you take the Tram # 9 to Wabern, it will be a walk of 10 - 15 minutes.
I will be looking for a women's and men's mike to take me and a friend through Switzerland, and then onto other parts of Europe. We will be arriving June 26 in Bern. Any advice?
I'm interested in renting a bike for about 4 months, unless it is cheaper to buy one. I'm looking for a regular bike - used, old, the works. Any place in Bern near Waldmanstrasse/Bumpliz??? Thank youuuu

Hey Pete,
Am really interested in this bike shop. Would you be able to point out where it is on Google Maps? This is as far as I've gotten:
I dont know about the other places mentioned here but I have been to Niederwangen (just past Bumpliz - catch the train its about 10 mins max). On the main street Freidburgstrasse, which is just outside the train station, there are at least two shops that sell bikes, new (Ski and Velo centre) and second hand (Sportboerse), possibly others. Viel gluck!
